The history of Watsons dates back to 1828, when the Canton Dispensary was first founded in Canton, China, to provide free medical aid to the poor. Nowadays, it is a member of the world renowned Hong Kong-based conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa Limited and operated under the A.S. Watson Group, the world's largest health and beauty retailer, which currently operates over 2,600 stores and more than 900 pharmacies in 11 Asian markets.
